Buildings are the by far the largest contributor to carbon emissions therefore making it ever important to ensure they are energy efficient. There are several initiatives in place within the emirate of Abu Dhabi to retrofit existing buildings to ensure that they are energy efficient; the Building Retrofit Programme is one of the nine programmes under the Abu Dhabi Demand Side Management and Energy Rationalisation Strategy 2030 to help reduce overall electricity consumption by 22 percent and water consumption by 32 percent in the emirate of Abu Dhabi by the year 2030.
Some of the most prominent upcoming projects include; ADES has currently signed an MOU with Abu Dhabi police to retrofit multiple buildings, the audits are currently underway and the RFQ’s will be introduced shortly. ADES are also currently in conversation with multiple government entities to retrofit their buildings.
The 3rd RetrofitTech Abu Dhabi Summit is taking place on 6 - 7 June 2023 at the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers and will gather key government entities and project owners to discuss their upcoming projects and their requirements. The Summit offers multiple thought-provoking and content rich sessions while providing an interactive and conducive environment for idea and knowledge sharing to best help achieve the objectives of sustainable and energy efficient buildings.
